The Betsy Ross House
239 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106
#NC-17340-PA - Notecards
Also available in Assortment Pack #AST-1776

This historic house celebrates the life and accomplishments of Betsy Ross, a Philadelphia patriot believed to have made our country’s first flag. An accomplished 18th century tradesperson, Betsy Ross often told her family about the day in 1776 when General George Washington and two members of the Continental Congress came to her busy upholstery shop and asked her to sew a flag for the newly formed United States. Widowed three times and mother to seven daughters, Betsy Ross continued to work in both the upholstery and flag-making business well into her seventies. She died in 1836 at the age of 84.
